ARMENIAN CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE ACM

We have been following with concern the publications in the Turkish-Cypriot press regarding the Armenian Church and Monastery (ACM) complex, which is being restored by UNDP-ACT/USAID.

To safeguard the rights of the Armenian Church of Cyprus, we have had, throughout this period of time, many important meetings with the representatives of diplomatic missions and important organisations, as well as other individuals. We have conveyed to them our views regarding the recent developments and discussed with them the way forward. Our position on the matter has been received with understanding and sympathy. At the same time, we have been urged not to act rashly, but to wait prudently for specific diplomatic representations and actions to run their course.

We are looking forward to the outcome of these representations and actions before taking final decisions on the course of action to be followed.
